News: Long Baby Bibs

Spring ‘22 Spit Up Collection

By Casey Corey

Spring ‘22 Spit Up Collection

I have been working on this springtime line up for quite a while now. I am so excited to finally share this collection.

Navy blue and pastel yellow fabric for a baby bib set

Pink fabric with lambs for baby bib set

Baby blue dinosaur fabric for baby bib set

I found the beehive fabric about two years ago. I found the lamb, dinosaurs, and flowers about a year ago. They all felt like springtime releases but morning sickness (aka all day sickness) prevented me from getting them ready for a release last year.

One of the albeit small questions that I debate over and over during release prep is how many products to include in a collection. Creating four handmade baby bib sets while caring for a newborn and two toddlers seemed ambitious but manageable. So, I chose these four modern and adorable sets.

But then I found the swan fabric. Oh the classy, elegant swan fabric. I had to include it! Picking out the solid bib for the swan set was surprisingly exciting, too. I decided on this fabric that’s a little rougher than what I normally use (but still soft enough for baby!) because it gets so deliciously soft the more it’s used.

Baby bib fabrics stacked on top of each other

And that’s how the Casey Sheila Quilts Spring Spit Up Collection came to be! *Baby girl inspired the name of this collection because that girl certainly has an overabundance of spit up.

As always, each set is available in either the Bandana or Long size. The Long size provides full coverage for this reflux baby of mine.

Petal baby bibs

The bib sets are backed with either Organic Fleece or Organic Terry Cloth. They are both soft, but the fleece is the softer of the two while the terry cloth is the more absorbent of the two.

Dinosaur baby bibs

They come with sturdy snap closures and machine washable (my favorite part).

Where I Find Inspiration for Our Baby Bib Sets

By Casey Corey

Where I Find Inspiration for Our Baby Bib Sets

Casey Sheila Quilts is two years old this month! I started this company in April 2020. The world had just shut down. I kept thinking everything would open back up any day. I had a five month old and a two year old. My husband’s company needed to pivot like so many other businesses during the pandemic. So, I buried my stress in sewing and started selling baby bibs. I launched my first quilt collection in June 2020 and have been growing ever since!

To celebrate two years of creating thoughtful products for you and your babes, I thought it would be fun to do a series of blog posts reflecting on the inspiration behind the different products. Today, we are taking a closer look at the inspiration behind some our handmade baby bib sets.

pile of modern, handmade baby bibs

When I had my baby shower with Alice, I received a ton of bibs. Most of them were impractical. I felt like Goldilocks. They were too small. They didn’t hold up well in the wash. The prints were too cutesy. They had phrases I didn’t like printed on them. “Daddy’s Girl” always irked me- I’m home taking care of the baby most of the time, she better be a momma’s girl! (Happy to report- she loves us both).

After Alice, I knew what I liked in a bib- something that could easily be thrown in the washer, snaps, and had modern prints. I also loved a good set because if Alice was having a particularly spitty or drooly day, she could wear the whole set and still have them match her outfit. So, we set out to create just that.

In the beginning, I used modern fabrics I loved because if I loved them, I knew other moms would too. The OG bib release are still some of the best sellers.

Now that we offer between 25-30 different sets, I try to use modern fabrics that fill any color schemes that we might be missing. I’m always on the hunt for gender neutral options. And if they’re a beachy or bold color print that I know my fellow South Florida mamas would love, all the better.

I am still drawn to the typical girl color fabrics, but I’ll blame that on just having had another baby girl.

Selling out of a set is bittersweet- I loved those fabrics and it made me so happy to create bibs for all the special babies in your lives. It also means, I can start looking around for another set to fill that void :)

Holiday Baby Bib Sets Are Here!

By Casey Corey

The Holidays Are (Almost) Here! The Casey Sheila Quilts Holiday Baby Bib Sets Are Here! These modern baby bib sets are beary, merry, and bright. We brought back a few of the favorite sets from last year and added two brand new sets. We hope you love them as much as we do. Without further ado, we are pleased to introduce you to: Tropical Holiday Babies Bib Set, Lit Babies Bib Set, Challah Babies Bib Set, Holi-Babies Bib Set, and the Beary Merry Babies Bib Set.

Tropical Holiday Babies Bib Set

This set was inspired by my mom. I grew up listening to my mom fantasize about going to Aruba for the Holidays instead of organizing a 20+ person dinner for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Family was far more important to her than Aruba so we never actually went but it sure was fun to dream about.

Lit Babies Bib Set

There is nothing cozier in this season than getting your tree decorated and ready for the holidays. Just add a sleeping baby, Christmas music, and a crackling fire.

Challah Babies Bib Set

Inspired by the gorgeous blues in the Hannukah season, this set is one of our softest sets. Two of the bibs are made from a woven fabric and is sure to feel amazing on baby’s skin.

Holi-Babies Bib Set

There’s no way to resist these polar bears. They spread cheer, light, and love.

Beary Merry Babies Bib Set

The holiday collection would not be complete without a pink baby bib set, of course. Polar bears, gifts, and the sweetest checkered pattern checking all of the merry holiday boxes.

Like all of our bibs, these sets are machine washable. They come in either the bandana or long styles. And they can be backed with bright white organic fleece or a natural colored organic terry cloth. Please send us an email at casey@caseysheilaquilts.com with any questions!

Wishing you and yours a Messy Christmas and a Happy New Bib.

Xoxo, Casey

Books and Bibs: Halloween Edition

By Casey Corey

Spooky Season is upon us. To celebrate, we’ve paired some children’s halloween books with our modern baby bib sets. It’s like a book club but for our babies. That works, right? Some of the things I look for in children’s books before I commit to a a recommendation are: how is the plot? Will I mind reading this 50 times before Halloween? (Major bonus for humor). How’s the character development? Can my children relate? What’s the message? What kind of themes or lessons can my children pick up from reading it?

halloween themed bibs shown with children's halloween themed book and pumpkins

Using the above criteria, we settled on two children’s books and a third suggestion (more on that below). The first is Vampirina Ballerina by Anne Marie Pace. A strong female lead trying something new supported by her large family? It’s quirky and cute. And there’s pink on the cover so my four year old was immediately in love. We’ve read this one a number of times and I’m still not sick of it. We paired this lovely read with two Casey Sheila Quilts bib sets: Purple Dino Babies Bib Set and the Wild Things Baby Bib Set.

Dinosaurs are always appropriate for spooky season. The purples in this set are rich and luxurious and will translate nicely into the winter.

The black and golds in the Wild Things set are a weakness for me. I’m obsessed. And the crowns bib is a great option if your family is dressing up as royalty or as Max from Where the Wild Things Are for Halloween. My daughter is dressing up as a princess this year and she could not be more excited. We got my son a dragon costume and so far, he is petrified of it.

The second book, Bonaparte Falls Apart by Margery Cuyler, is a personal favorite. The main skeletal character is scared about surviving school when all of his limbs keep falling off. His friends relentlessly try to come up with solutions to help him. Children solving problems without adult intervention? Check. Friends being supportive and kind? Check, check. We paired this book with the Orange Dino Babies Bib Set and the Turtle Dude Babies Bib Set.

The oranges in both sets fit in nicely with the spooky season orange color. And the orange solid color in both sets remains relevant for the rest of fall. *The solid orange bib in the Orange Dino Babies Bib Set is a reddish orange while the Turtle Dude Babies Bib Set has a bright orange solid.

teal baby bib sets shown to raise food allergy awareness

And last but perhaps the most important, is the teal set for this Halloween’s Books and Bibs series. It’s not a children’s book, but it was a book I needed as a new mom to a small child with food allergies. Allergic Girl by Sloane Miller helped give me confidence that we could raise my daughter without food being a stressful trigger for her. Neither my husband nor I had any personal experience with food allergies, and we desperately needed guidance. I also loved Don’t Kiss the Birthday Girl by Sandra Beasley. She walked me through her life managing food allergies and made it easier to process how to keep my daughter safe without creating too much anxiety.

The Teal Pumpkin Project was created to help raise food allergy awareness. By putting out a teal pumpkin at Halloween, you are letting families know you are giving out candy or toys that are safe from the top 8 allergens. So, we included the Pop Babies Bib Set and the Taco Babies Bib Set for this book suggestion. Unintentionally, they’re both food related sets. They were really chosen for the teal solid color bib in each set.

If you have any questions or a recommendation for a children’s book about allergies, I’d love to hear them: casey@caseysheilaquilts.com. Wishing you and your families a very fun and safe Halloween.

BABY HOLIDAY BIBS

By Casey Corey

BABY HOLIDAY BIBS

Are here! We have three new sets for the babies to sport during your holiday affairs.  Whether you’re staying home and keeping things small, or attending an outdoor, socially distanced gathering, baby is going to make a mess. Spit up, mashed sweet potatoes, drool… yep, we’ve got your baby covered. Our bibs are machine washable on the normal setting so don’t worry about the clean-up. Without further ado, here is the Beary Merry Babies Bib Set, Holi-Baby Bib Set, and the Challah Baby Bib Set.

The Beary Merry Babies Bib Set was designed for our girly girls who still want to show the silly side of themselves this holiday season. The Merry Bib is certain to brighten up anyone’s day. Each set comes with three different bib styles with either an Organic Cotton Fleece or French Terry Cloth back.  The Fleece is softer and more lightweight, while the French Terry Cloth is more absorbent.  But both are organic cotton.

The Holi-Baby Bib Set is a personal favorite. I just can’t get enough of those bears.  And that gold. I mean. The photographs don’t do it justice. It shimmers without leaving glitter everywhere. And it will still hold up in the washing machine.

Our last, but certainly not least, is the Challah Babies Bib Set. They are every bit as soft as they are elegant and classy. The gold in those stripes also reflect a beautiful shimmer.  Each of these sets are available in either the bandana or long form. If your baby really excels at the spit up game or is feeding him or herself those sweet mashed potatoes, I recommend the long form. And then just throw it in the wash after mealtime.  Are you sensing a trend? Yeah, why make the holidays even harder. Everything baby-related should be easy to wash.

Baby Shower Gift Guide

By Casey Corey

Baby Shower Gift Guide

Your friend/acquaintance/co-worker/cousin/a person in your life is expecting a baby! How exciting! You get invited to the celebration of said baby. The date is approaching and now you begin to wonder about what’s an appropriate gift?! The registry is obviously helpful, but how excited can you get about giving diaper cream? I usually like to do a mix of both registry gifts and non-registry gifts. Some bottles, formula, and bibs? Feeding time is taken care of! A sound machine and quilted pillow? Newborn naps in the nursery, done! A play gym and quilt? Tummy time! Just need the baby… Here are some ideas from Casey Sheila Quilts:

baby bibs hanging on ladder in front of white wall

Option A: Baby Bib Sets

Baby Boy:

Check out the Wild Things Babies Bib Set because let’s be honest, most babies are a bit of wild thing. Or the classic Orange Dino Babies Bib Set goes with any theme. The dinos and orange bones are as soft as they are cute.

Baby Girl

You can’t go wrong with the Sugar Babies Bib Set. Babies are so sweet and wearing a sweet, ice cream bib will help remind the parents as they try to contain the baby spit up. Or the classy Les Fleurs Babies Bib Set is always such an elegant set.

Team Green:

Gender reveal isn’t happening until birth? We’ve got you covered.  Apple Bottom Babies Bib Set is literal team green. And the classic mint in the Donut & Sprinkles Babies Bib Set makes it one of our most popular sets for a reason.

Option B: Quilted Pillow Covers

If you wanted to make more of a statement, then check out our Quilted Pillow Covers.  We’e got three designs in the Wild Things Set that are pretty universal.  The Wild Rumpus Quilted Pillow Cover fits a coastal themed nursery while the King of All Wild Things Pillow Cover fits a “woods-y” themed nursery.  Going fully custom is, of course, always an option.

Option C: Baby Quilts

The creme de la creme- a handmade, modern baby quilt.  Looking for a modern baby girl quilt? Mischief of One Kind and Another is one of my favorites. Don’t forget to check out the fun backing, too. And just like the quilted pillow covers, going fully custom is an option. Fill out our Questionnaire, and we can start planning the perfect gift.

Option D: Gift Cards

All that said, if buying a gift is too overwhelming (I get it!), gift cards are really a perfectly appropriate gift, too.

Thank you for being here. We are so honored to be part of this momentous time.

Best Baby Bibs (Fall 2020 Edition)

By Casey Corey

Best Baby Bibs (Fall 2020 Edition)

They’re here! Four new sets of bibs to celebrate Fall and bid farewell to Summer 2020: Les Fleurs Babies, Doughnut and Sprinkle Babies, Purple Dino Babies, and the Orange Dino Babies (we couldn’t decide if we should go with the orange or purples to coordinate with the dinosaur fabric, so we made both!).

les fleurs babies bib set blog image

Les Fleurs Babies Bib Set rocks a deep red floral pattern.  The Casey Sheila Quilts modern bib line was missing that rich red and we think this one definitely fills that void.  The florals are accompanied by a vibrant yellow with speckles and a deep, solid red.  Like all of our bibs, these beauties are finished with a double stitch seam on top. The double stitch helps the bibs lay flat and ensure their longevity. No grown up has time to be hand washing bibs. Feel comfortable throwing these bibs in the regular machine wash cycle on repeat; they will last.

We are not responsible for any extra doughnut consumption as a result of owning the Donut & Sprinkle Babies Bib Set. But seriously, the pink doughnuts on the mint green background is a sweet color palette that called for a mint green solid bib to match. We like to include a solid color bib in each set because sometimes you want a bib that doesn’t steal the show. We understand that baby’s outfit is going to be on point somedays, but baby is still going to need a bib to handle all that drool, spit up, and food droppings.  The solids will handle that while not distracting from the cute clothes you worked so hard on wrestling over those flailing arms and legs.

The Orange Dino Babies Bib Set can double as a Halloween bib set.  The orange patterned fabric reminds us of dinosaur bones and of course needed a bright solid orange to complete the set.  And because we couldn’t decide between orange and purple….

Our last set in this release is the Purple Dino Babies Bib Set. The name has us wanting to rewatch Land Before Time.  Like all of our bib sets, these are available with either a Cotton Fleece or a French Terry Cloth backing. The Fleece is a softer backing for those babes with sensitive skin while the French Terry Cloth is more absorbent.

We hope you and your babes love these bibs as much as we love making them.
